The initial project with Joseph Canavan was to create a business card. A very simple initial logo was put together to give some form of a brand using his name.

Growing Business, Growing Brand

As his carpentry and project management business grew, Joseph decided to create branded workwear for his team to wear. Now that he was investing in bigger purchases, he decided it was a good time for him to upgrade his logo.
Joseph made the decision to combine his work with a demonstration of his faith, and so the Nails & Cross image he found was very fitting – the nails symbolic of carpentry, and the cross and crown of thorns a symbol of his Catholic faith.

Getting the Icon Logo Ready
The image he found was copyrighted, so after purchasing the license for professional use, I modified the cross so that it could be more easily embroidered onto clothing.

Initial vector image – contained too much detail for it to be suitably used as an icon logo or embroidered onto clothing.

Simplified logo, reducing level of detail to improve quality when embroidering logo onto clothing and also so logo looks good even when shown as a small icon.
Logo v2
The icon fit nicely, with some adjustments to ensure that everything was correctly proportioned and visually weighted evenly.

Logo in Action
Now that the logo was sorted, it was time get it on some company workwear.
I communicated the back and forth with Totally Workwear Knox to get the embroidery just right on hoodies, vests and shirts.

Brendan brought the vision I had for my business’s brand to life. The whole process was easy, efficient and he went the extra mile. I’ve had many positive comments on my logo and uniforms. Highly recommend Brendan to anyone who appreciates quality work.
The Story Continues
I believe Joseph Canavan takes a great approach to marketing as a small business.
Start small, build up.
As his business has grown, so has his brand.
It was time for him to rebrand so he could begin to target larger clients. Under “Canavan Constructions”, along with his growing expertise and qualifications, he would be able to start attracting those clients.
Which meant it was time for a new logo, signage for his work vehicle and a website.
